Core Energy 2014 brings together energy leaders

September 29, 2014

Halifax, N.S. – From offshore to onshore, renewables to non-renewables, this year’s Core Energy conference in Halifax covers the significant energy projects that are happening in the region. Taking place at Pier 21 on October 7th and 8th, Core Energy is organized by The Maritimes Energy Association.

“The value of energy projects slated for eastern Canada in the coming years is measured in the Billions of Dollars. Core Energy 2014 provides you the opportunity to learn more about how to make that work for your business,” says Barbara Pike, CEO of The Maritimes Energy Association. The opening session features NB Power, Emera and NL Hydro talking about our regional energy demands, supply, and the opportunities that connecting the two will have for your business. This panel represents the largest energy companies headquartered in the region and their portfolios include oil, natural gas, pipelines, hydro, wind, nuclear, biomass, electricity and transmission.

“With NB Power’s position as the region’s connection to the lucrative New England market to Emera’s international reach to NL Hydro’s title as the energy warehouse – this panel provides the big picture energy opportunities of the region,” says Pike. Speakers over the two days include BP’s Rob O’Connor, Shell’s Martijn Dekker, and ExxonMobil’s Andrew Barry. There will be onshore energy updates from South Canoe Wind Farm, Natural Forces, Pieridae Energy, Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline, East Coast Energy, Heritage Gas and the Maritime Link. Nationally acclaimed lawyer Bernd Christmas provides his thoughts on aboriginal engagement for energy projects in the region. Named one of the top 30 under 30 by Forbes magazine, Nova Scotia native Danielle Fong flies in from Silicon Valley to talk about LightSail Energy and ‘regenerative air energy storage’. Other sessions cover safety with the SayleGROUP, an update from the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board, insight from APEC on how energy contributes to the region’s major projects, and Nova Scotia Energy Minister Andrew Younger will explain his view of the energy file in his province.

Registration is still open for the 2014 Core Energy Conference which is just over a week away. For further information about The Maritimes Energy Association and its Core Energy Conference, please visit www.CoreConference.com.
