Council approved funding for Six Nations Polytechnic – Brantnews.com

City council gave approval in principle to contribute $425,000 to Six Nations Polytechnic’s bid to provide skilled trades training at the former Mohawk College campus on Elgin Street.

The funding would be contingent on certain conditions, including Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) obtaining financial commitments from other sources and partners.

“It makes it a lot easier when they’re going to the ministry (Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities) and looking for other partners if they say, ‘Council is on board to support this, at least in principle,” Coun. Richard Carpenter said at Monday’s council meeting.

“I would hate to see us lose it because we haven’t got anything together,” he said.
