Council hears update on flood mitigation work, approves Indigenous community grant program – Daily Herald Tribune
A program helping Indigenous communities implement protocol agreements was unanimously passed Tuesday. The Indigenous Community Capacity Grant Program Policy will give $125,000 to eligible communities. Administration will request $1.5 million as part of the 2022 municipal budget.
Dennis Fraiser, the municipality’s director of Indigenous and Rural Relations, told council capacity funding has been a key concern from Indigenous communities to implement the agreements.
