Park would be located in hydro corridor land leased from Hydro One
A North York Business Improvement Area (BIA) is moving forward on a proposal to build a First Nations park in a hydro corridor in Emery Village, a plan that’s facing opposition from the local councillor and a local residents’ group.
“It’s not only for the community, but it’s also to draw in people into our community and support our local businesses,” Emery Village BIA executive director Sandra Farina said of the project. “It’s community building. It’s a great use of space and highlighting the history.”
The BIA spearheaded the project in 2015 and has spent $500,000 to $700,000 on it since that time, according to Farina.
