Before heading into a two-day “virtual cabinet retreat,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will join Nunavut Premier P.J. Akeeagok, Social Development Minister Karina Gould, and Northern Affairs Minister Dan Vandal to virtually unveil a new deal for early-education and child-care funding. (10 AM)
Later this afternoon, he and his ministers will kick off two days of pre-sitting strategizing. According to the official advisory (and not surprisingly), it will “focus on (the government’s) efforts to address the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and work toward a strong recovery that benefits all Canadians,” including by “creating jobs, investing in a green economy, and supporting Canadians and businesses as we get through the Omicron wave.”
