A day after announcing the next steps in Canada’s response to the rising tensions on the Russia-Ukraine border — which, as Canadian Press reports, will include sending “up to 426”Canadian troops to Latvia and imposing new sanctions on Russia — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will hold another closed-door huddle with the Incident Response Group to discuss both the latest developments in Eastern Europe and the “illegal blockades” that led him to declare a federal public order emergency last week.
Later this afternoon, he’ll “deliver remarks” at a board meeting of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, with Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland expected to join the discussion, as well as attend the IRG briefing session.
