Kenora’s Seven Generations Education Institute gets $1M boost – CBC

Officials with the Seven Generations Education Institute in Kenora say new federal funding will help improve its curriculum.

The institute received slightly more than $1 million from FedNor for several capital upgrades, including retrofits to the building it owns in Kenora.

The renovation will allow the institute to expand its culinary programs, said Wayne Zimmer, the director of apprenticeships and essential skills at the Kenora campus, adding that they will soon be able to offer a two-year diploma program.

“It changes the whole dynamic, because the closest place you can go is Thunder Bay right now, or Winnipeg, if you want a culinary program,” he said.
