Liberal MP blasted over racist ‘sobriety’ ad, but it was written by First Nations Drum newspaper
A Liberal MP came under fire Wednesday over a newspaper ad that congratulated aboriginal high school graduates on staying sober, but it turns out a member of the First Nations Drum‘s sales team wrote the offending slogan.
A photograph of the ad was posted on Twitter around 11 a.m. by Jacqui Gingras, a New Democratic Party of Canada candidate for the B.C. riding of North Okanagan-Shuswap
“Congratulations to all 2015 Aboriginal High School graduates. Sobriety, education and hard work lead to success,” the ad said, next to a photo of MP Joyce Murray, who is seeking reelection in Vancouver Quadra.
