Manitoba First Nation says it’s shut out of hydro work – Global News

WINNIPEG — A First Nation says it may not get its fair share of benefits from a massive transmission line being built by Manitoba Hydro.

The Opaskwayak Cree Nation says the provincial Crown corporation has not come forward with plans to ensure First Nations gets a share of contract work on the project.

Chief Michael Constant says the line is also disruptive to traditional lands, and crosses 165 kilometres of his First Nations area.

He says Opaskwayak Cree Nation will formally oppose the project unless things change.

Manitoba Hydro was not immediately available to respond to the accusations.
