Media availability: Northern Premiers’ Forum

What: Nunavut Premier P.J. Akeeagok, Yukon Premier Ranj Pillai, and Northwest Territories Premier R.J. Simpson will speak to media in Iqaluit at the end of the 2024 Northern Premiers’ Forum.

The Northern Premiers’ Forum is a platform where territorial premiers meet annually to discuss shared priorities and interests as they engage with federal and provincial governments. The chair is assumed on a rotational basis between the Yukon, Northwest Territories (NWT), and Nunavut.

Premier Akeeagok, as chairperson, is hosting the 2024 event in Mittimatalik, Nunavut, from May 6 to 9. Discussion topics include Arctic security and sovereignty, critical infrastructure gaps, emergency preparedness and management, healthy, resilient and prosperous communities, and housing.
