QIA: Unofficial Election Results

Iqaluit, Nunavut – April 20, 2026 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) Chief Returning Officer (CRO) Joe Adla Kunuk announced today that Peter Derek Ottokie was elected as Community Director in Kinngait with 74% of the votes.
The term will be until December 2028.
Voter turnout for this election was 16%.
QIA would like to thank all members that cast their ballots through proxy, advanced polls, mobile and in-person on election day.
QIA also wishes to honour the late Martha Jaw for her dedicated service to the people of Kinngait and Qikiqtani Inuit. Her contributions and commitment to her community will be remembered with deep appreciation.
