— Committee calls GoFundMe to testify: A parliamentary committee voted unanimously to call GoFundMe executives to testify about the crowdfunding campaign for trucker protesters in Ottawa. Liberal, Conservative and Bloc Québécois members of the committee supported the proposal by NDP MP Alistair MacGregor. They want to “ensure the funds are not being used to promote extremism” or forms of hate.
— Military ‘not a police force’: Defence Minister Anita Anand tweeted yesterday that the Canadian Armed Forces are “not a police force” and would not be used in a law enforcement capacity in Ottawa.
Also yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau refused to say whether he was willing to negotiate with the demonstrators occupying downtown Ottawa. He did, however, say that the people of Ottawa deserve to get their lives back.
