Municipal Election candidates surveyed on Indigenous relationships, truth and reconciliation – PTBO Today

The Indigenous Allies Working Group has surveyed Peterborough municipal election candidates to gather a number of insights, including their willingness to support the implementation of calls to action and justice as put forth by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Amongst the five candidates for mayor, Henry Clarke earned the top rating of knowledgeable and active while Jeff Leal has been assessed as involved and learning. Victor Kreuz and Brian Lumsden have been deemed as having good intentions. Stephen Wright, meanwhile, did not respond to the survey.

Other candidates earning the group’s top rating are Otonabee Ward candidate Kevin Duguay; Monaghan Ward Charmaine Mugabe; Alex Bierk and Joy Lachica running in Town Ward; Ashburnham Ward candidate Andrew MacGregor, and Northcrest Ward hopeful Carlotte James.

Council candidates rated as involved and learning are Eleanor Underwood, Matt Crowley, Dean Pappas and Gary Baldwin.
