No new money for housing, infrastructure; family tax benefits continue
The governments of Nunavut and the Northwest Territories will get bigger credit limits — but not much else — out of Finance Minister Joe Oliver’s 2015-16 budget, tabled April 21 in the House of Commons.
Pending federal cabinet approval, Nunavut will see its debt cap rise from $400 million to $650 million, budget documents said.
Nunavut Finance Minister Keith Peterson had told MLAs earlier this year that Nunavut wanted its Ottawa-imposed credit limit to rise from $400 million to $750 million.
