Qulliq Energy Corporation Fully Cooperating With WSCC

IQALUIT, Nunavut (July 3, 2025) – Yesterday, Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) was made aware that Nunavut’s Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) charged QEC under the Safety Act in relation to a tragic incident that took place in Naujaat on July 5, 2024 which resulted in the death of a QEC electrician.

“Each of us at QEC continues to mourn and reflect upon the memory of our valued colleague and our thoughts remain with his family, friends, and community,” said Ernest Douglas, President and CEO, QEC. “Workplace safety is a continuous journey, and we are committed to making sure it is at the centre of everything we do.”

Immediately following the incident, QEC investigated and shared the results with the WSCC. QEC cooperated fully with the WSCC’s investigation.

QEC remains committed to learning from this tragedy to ensure every employee returns home safely at the end of each day.
