Residents want information on land claim – North Bay Nugget

The Algonquin Land Claim is far from complete.

However details as to what is included in the agreement remains unknown.

East Ferris residents have heard the Algonquins are seeking additional lands other than the 117,500 acres they first proposed, but what areas are being sought and how much is unclear.

East Ferris resident Harwood Holmes said a meeting was scheduled for June 20 to update the public, but because there is such a lack of information they’ve had to postpone it until details become clearer.

“We had commitments from Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli and the Federation of Anglers and Hunters, but we’re just going to have to wait until more information comes out,” he said.
