Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs Minister Keith Russell faced some criticism last week over alleged comments he made to a Nunatsiavut Government (NG) minister.
According to Nunatsiavut Government President Sarah Leo, Russell and an NG minister, who has not yet been named, were having a conversation about the new agreement between Vale and the province.
With the new agreement, Vale will give the province more than $200 million in compensation for allowing the mining company to export material from its Voisey’s Bay mine.
The Nunatsiavut Government publicly criticized the province, claiming the Aboriginal group wasn’t properly consulted prior to the new agreement with Vale.
