Scott McLeod elected NFN Chief – The North Bay Nugget

July 12, 2015

Scott McLeod was elected Nipissing First Nation Chief Friday, taking 376 votes.

Doug Chevrier received 274 votes and Arnold May received 194 votes.

“It was a long nail biting night, but definitely worth it,” McLeod said. “It’s a good feeling, and I’m looking forward to taking office and getting to work.

“I didn’t choose to run, it chose me. When you live in a community that is tight knit, it is like a family. Heads of families rise up on their own, and I had the desire to help my family along.”

He said he is excited to bring a new breath of energy to the council, saying that change was something the electorate wanted loud and clear. McLeod’s educational background is in Freshwater Fisheries Management, but he is currently self-employed as a general contractor building custom homes.
