October 2, 2014Ontario Strengthening Northern Economy
Ontario is building a stronger, more diverse northern economy by helping municipalities upgrade infrastructure, farmers improve their land and businesses expand their operations in the Timiskaming-Cochrane area.
With an $8.4 million investment from the province’s Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), 17 projects in the Timiskaming-Cochrane region are growing the northern economy.
Projects include upgrades to water and sewer infrastructure in Haileybury, working with the
Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance to assist farmers with tile drainage installation and land clearing, the construction of a multi-use facility and business centre in the Temagami First Nation and the expansion of the B & G Industrial Services metal fabrication shop to a new location in the Township of Harley Industrial Park.
Building economic opportunities in the North is part of the government’s plan to invest in people, build modern infrastructure and support a dynamic and innovative business climate.
