Symposium 2015: Knowledge Transfer to Support Wood Building and Design

Press Releases

The latest research into design and construction of mid-rise and taller wood buildings will be the topic of this educational one-day event, providing you with an opportunity to be among the first to learn from thought-leaders and academics who lead our industry.

As the NEWBuildS Network enters its final year of operation, some of the research outcomes from the network and its partners are being implemented to facilitate design and construction of mid-rise and taller wood buildings. NEWBuildS is a multi-disciplinary strategic research network for engineered wood-based building systems and consists of 13 Canadian universities, FPInnovations, the National Research Council and the Canadian Wood Council.

Co-hosted by Wood WORKS! BC, Symposium 2015 will focus on projects that have either been implemented or are of interest to early adopters. The outcomes cover structural, fire and building envelope performance of wood buildings. Presentations will focus on state-of-the-art design information that is either in the process of being implemented or could be implemented in future editions of design standards and building and fire codes. NEWBuildS Principal Investigators, scientists from FPInnovations and the National Research Council and engineers from the building industry will be presenting at this informational and inspirational event.
