Labour Force Survey, November 2023
Employment was little changed in November (+25,000; +0.1%) and the employment rate fell 0.1 percentage points to 61.8%, as growth in the population continued to outpace employment growth.
Canadian Survey on Disability, 2017 to 2022
New findings from the 2022 Canadian Survey on Disability (CSD) showed that 27% of Canadians aged 15 years and older, or 8.0 million people, had one or more disabilities that limited them in their daily activities. The CSD is the official source of data on persons with disabilities aged 15 years and older in Canada.
Spending on research and development in the higher education sector, 2021/2022
Higher education institutions play an integral role in performing research and development (R&D) in Canada. In fact, Canadian institutions have been responsible for major inventions related to telecommunications equipment and space technologies, as well as breakthroughs in the development of vaccines and medical instruments.
Aircraft movement statistics: Major and select small airports, September 2023
In September, aircraft movements at Canada’s major and select small airports totalled 508,827. This was an increase of 3.3% from September 2022 but 4.5% lower than September 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Quarterly capital spending: Oil and gas industries, third quarter 2023
Capital expenditures in the oil and gas extraction industries, including expenditures on exploration and evaluation, increased by 1.7% in the third quarter to reach $10.6 billion. Capital spending has increased by more than 20% in the first three quarters of 2023 compared with the same period in 2022.
