Monthly Survey of Manufacturing, October 2024
Total manufacturing sales increased 2.1% in October, mainly on higher sales of petroleum and coal products as well as of transportation equipment. Sales in the paper subsector declined the most.
Wholesale trade, October 2024
Wholesale sales (excluding petroleum, petroleum products, and other hydrocarbons and excluding oilseed and grain) rose 1.0% to $83.7 billion in October.
New motor vehicle sales, October 2024
New motor vehicle sales data for Canada and the provinces are now available for October. The New Motor Vehicle Sales Survey collects data on monthly sales (in dollars and units) of new motor vehicles in Canada by type of vehicle and by country or region of manufacture.
Shelters for victims of abuse with ties to Indigenous communities or organizations in Canada, 2022/2023
Shelters mandated to provide services to victims of abuse are an important resource for many people experiencing violence. In 2022/2023, there were 96 such shelters operating across Canada that had ties to First Nations, Métis or Inuit communities or organizations, representing 17% of all shelters providing these services in Canada. These shelters primarily serve individuals from Indigenous communities throughout the country and play an important role for victims of abuse by offering them a safe environment and basic living needs, as well as various types of support and outreach services.
Industrial capacity utilization rates, third quarter 2024
Canadian industries operated at 79.3% of their production capacity in the third quarter, up slightly from 79.1% in the second quarter, which has not been revised since its release.
Urban public transit, October 2024
In October, the number of urban passenger trips in Canada reached a post-COVID-19 pandemic high at 147.2 million, the most trips since February 2020.
