Labour Force Survey, December 2025
In December, employment was little changed (+8,200; 0.0%) and the employment rate held steady at 60.9%. The unemployment rate rose 0.3 percentage points to 6.8%, as more people searched for work.
Health-adjusted life expectancy in Canada: Recent trends at birth and age 65 years, 2019, 2020 and 2023
Health-adjusted life expectancy declined in Canada in 2023, reflecting global trends following the COVID-19 pandemic. Trends differ between at birth and age 65. Females continue to outlive males but spend more years in poor health. Disparities remain across income levels and provinces and territories.
Government finance statistics, third quarter 2025
In the third quarter, the Canadian general government posted a surplus of $4.1 billion, compared with a deficit of $6.2 billion in the same quarter of 2024. Excluding social security funds, the general government recorded a deficit of $9.4 billion in the third quarter of 2025, down from the $14.3 billion deficit recorded in the third quarter of 2024.
Energy statistics, October 2025
Primary energy production rose 1.8% year over year to 2.1 million terajoules for the month of October, with five of the six sectors showing gains. Secondary energy production also increased, posting a gain of 1.4%.
Screened passenger traffic at Canadian airports, November 2025
In November, 4.4 million passengers passed through pre-board security screening at checkpoints operated at Canada’s eight largest airports, on par with November 2024 (+0.1%) and 7.4% above the pre-COVID-19 pandemic level in November 2019.

Lumber production increased 3.5% from September to 3 979.8 thousand cubic metres in October. Production was down 6.4% from October 2024.
