Canada’s international transactions in securities, September 2023
Foreign investors reduced their holdings of Canadian securities by $15.1 billion in September, mainly due to retirements of bonds. Meanwhile, Canadian investors acquired $11.6 billion of foreign securities, ending the third quarter with the largest investment since the fourth quarter of 2021.
Monthly credit aggregates, September 2023
In September, the total credit liabilities of households increased $6.2 billion (+0.2%) to reach $2,881.6 billion. Real estate secured debt, composed of both mortgage debt and home equity lines of credit, grew $5.0 billion (+0.2%). Household mortgage debt rose $5.6 billion (+0.3% on a monthly basis; +3.2% on an annualized basis) in September, a slowdown in growth compared with August.
Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, October 2023
The Industrial Product Price Index fell 1.0% month over month in October and was 2.7% lower than in October 2022. The Raw Materials Price Index declined 2.5% on a monthly basis in October 2023 and fell 0.8% year over year.
Secondary distributors of refined petroleum products, 2022
Secondary distributors of refined petroleum products sold 24.2 billion litres in Canada in 2022, up 1.6% from 2021. The refined petroleum products sold included motor gasoline (51.6%), diesel fuel oil (42.0%), light fuel oil (4.2%), and heavy fuel oil (2.2%).
End use of refined petroleum products, 2022
Total sales of refined petroleum products to end users stood at 88.4 million cubic metres in 2022, an increase of 4.7% compared with sales in 2021.
