Retail trade, September 2024
Retail sales increased 0.4% to $66.9 billion in September. Sales were up in six of nine subsectors and were led by increases at food and beverage retailers.
Consolidated Canadian Government Finance Statistics, 2023
The consolidated Canadian general government, which includes federal, provincial, territorial and local governments, recorded a deficit of $73.7 billion in 2023, following a slight surplus in 2022 ($3.3 billion).
Public Sector Universe, 2023
Today, Statistics Canada is publishing the 2023 list of entities in the Public Sector Universe. This year’s product presents public sector units from 2008 to 2023.
New Housing Price Index, October 2024
On a monthly basis, the New Housing Price Index (NHPI) fell 0.4% in October, the largest monthly decline since April 2009. However, the picture was mixed across the country, as prices were down in 9 out of 27 census metropolitan areas (CMAs) surveyed, but unchanged in 11 CMAs and up in the remaining 7.
Travel between Canada and other countries, September 2024
In September, US residents took 2.2 million trips to Canada, and residents of overseas countries took 683,700 trips. The number of non-resident arrivals (US-resident and overseas-resident arrivals combined) in Canada represented 91.7% of the number observed in September 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
