Impacts of the partial US government shutdown on the upcoming release of Canadian international trade data
On October 1, 2025, a partial shutdown of the US federal government came into effect, suspending operations at certain government agencies, including the United States Census Bureau. As a result of this disruption, the publication of Canadian international merchandise trade data for the September reference month will not occur as scheduled on November 4, 2025.

Participation rate of young adults in education rises modestly over the past decade
The share of young Canadians enrolled in formal education continues to shift in response to evolving economic conditions, labour market demands and demographic changes. In 2024/2025, 49% of individuals aged 18 to 24 years were participating in education, a slight increase from 47% a decade earlier. While the overall increase is modest, it coincides with notable shifts in the makeup of students attending colleges and universities across the country.
