Retail trade, August 2024
Retail sales increased 0.4% to $66.6 billion in August. Sales were up in four of nine subsectors and were led by increases at motor vehicle and parts dealers.
Study: The Sociodemographic Diversity of the Black Populations in Canada
The study outlined in this release analyzes the sociodemographic, linguistic, ethnocultural, and religious diversity of the Black populations in Canada. Using Census of Population data (1996 to 2021), it explores the evolution of the Black populations in Canada. This article demonstrates that there is not one, but many diverse Black populations in Canada.
New Housing Price Index, September 2024
The national index remained unchanged for the second consecutive month in September. Prices were unchanged in 12 of the 27 census metropolitan areas (CMAs) surveyed, up in 8 CMAs, and down in the remaining 7.
Residential Renovation Price Index, second quarter 2024
This is the first release of the Residential Renovation Price Index (RRPI), a program that provides a comprehensive portrait of the changes in the cost to complete residential renovation projects in Canada. There has been growing interest in understanding price changes in this sector in recent years, as increasing renovation activity has led residential renovations to account for a growing share of gross fixed capital formation in residential structures. The RRPI will complement existing price indexes for residential construction.

Monthly Survey of Manufacturing: Flash estimate, September 2024
Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector for September. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales decreased 0.8% in September. The largest declines were in the petroleum and coal product as well as chemical product subsectors.
