Gross domestic product by industry, July 2025
Real gross domestic product rose 0.2% in July, up for the first time in four months.
National tourism indicators, second quarter 2025
Tourism gross domestic product (GDP), in real terms, grew 1.3% in the second quarter of 2025, as Canadians are travelling to the United States less and spending their tourism dollars in Canada. In the second quarter, tourism GDP accounted for 1.77% of nominal GDP, and jobs attributable to tourism increased 0.6%.
Government finance statistics, second quarter 2025
In the second quarter, the Canadian general government posted a surplus of $7.0 billion, a decrease of $6.7 billion compared with the second quarter of 2024. Excluding social security funds, the general government recorded a deficit of $11.7 billion in the second quarter of 2025, up from the $0.1 billion deficit recorded in the second quarter of 2024.
Screened passenger traffic at Canadian airports, August 2025
In August, 5.8 million passengers passed through pre-board security screening at checkpoints operated at Canada’s eight largest airports, edging down slightly (-0.3%) from August 2024 albeit 5.8% above the pre-COVID-19 pandemic level from August 2019.
Food services and drinking places, July 2025
Total sales in the food services and drinking places subsector increased 0.1% in July to $8.5 billion, the fifth consecutive monthly increase.
Informatics professional services price indexes, 2024
Data are now available for the informatics professional services price indexes for 2024.
Wholesale trade: Early indicator, August 2025
Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the wholesale trade sector for August. The advance results for August indicate that wholesale sales (excluding petroleum, petroleum products, and other hydrocarbons and excluding oilseed and grain) decreased 1.3%. The decline reflects lower sales in the motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts and accessories subsector.
