Canada’s international transactions in securities, January 2025
Foreign investors acquired $7.9 billion of Canadian securities in January, led by the highest monthly investment in the Canadian bond market since April 2020. Meanwhile, Canadian investors reduced their holdings of foreign securities by $3.2 billion, mainly of US equity securities.
Investment in building construction, January 2025
Overall, investment in building construction rose 1.8% (+$393.7 million) to $22.1 billion in January. The residential sector increased 2.3% to $15.4 billion, while the non-residential sector was up 0.8% to $6.7 billion. Year over year, investment in building construction grew 5.7% in January.
Film, television and video production, 2023
The film, television and video production industry generated $10.4 billion in operating revenue in 2023, down 9.5% from 2021. This was the first biennial decline for the industry since comparable data became available in 2013.
Employment services, 2023
The employment services industry group—which includes employment placement agencies and executive search services, temporary help services, and professional employer organizations—reported continued growth in 2023, with operating revenues increasing 5.2% to $24.7 billion.
