Indigenous language families in Canada: New reports from the 2021 Census of Population
The 2021 Census of Population revealed that 243,155 people reported the ability to speak an Indigenous language well enough to conduct a conversation. There were more than 70 distinct Indigenous languages reported on the census questionnaire. Within this rich diversity of Indigenous languages, the data reveal varying levels of vitality and patterns of acquisition and use.

Energy statistics, January 2025
Canadian primary energy production had a strong start to 2025, recording a year-over-year increase of 7.8% to 2.1 million terajoules in January, the second-highest level since the series began in 2020.
Railway carloadings, January 2025
In January, the volume of cargo carried by Canadian railways reached 32.1 million tonnes, up 8.0% from January 2024. Year-over-year gains in carloadings of wheat, coal and canola in January 2025 contributed to the overall increase.

In February, 4.2 million passengers were recorded passing through pre-board security screening at checkpoints operated at Canada’s eight largest airports, a slight increase (+0.4%) over February 2024 and close to the pre-COVID-19 pandemic level from February 2020.
Real estate rental and leasing and property management industries, 2023
Residential and non-residential real estate lessors and real estate property managers industries generated $141.6 billion in operating revenue in 2023, up 6.3% from 2022. This growth was driven by a second consecutive year of significant population increases. The non-residential industry continued to expand due to strong retail activity and e-commerce, boosting demand for logistic centres.

Data on stocks of frozen eggs and poultry meats, as well as edible dried egg products, are now available for March 2025. Data on the placements of hatchery chicks and turkey poults are available for February 2025, and data on egg production are available for January 2025.
