Consumer Price Index, October 2025

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 2.2% year over year in October, down from a 2.4% increase in September. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the CPI rose 0.1% in October.

Foreign investors added $31.3 billion of Canadian securities to their holdings in September, closing the third quarter with investments totalling $80.3 billion. Meanwhile, Canadian investors acquired $22.1 billion of foreign securities in September, for a total of $57.6 billion in the third quarter.

New motor vehicle sales, September 2025

In September, 168,731 new motor vehicles were sold in Canada, up 1.2% from September 2024. Meanwhile, sales in dollar terms declined by 3.2% from the prior year. Over the same period, sales of new trucks rose by 2.9%, while passenger car sales declined 10.1%.
