Canadian international merchandise trade, February 2025
In February, Canada’s merchandise exports decreased 5.5%, while imports were up 0.8%. As a result, Canada’s merchandise trade balance with the world went from a surplus of $3.1 billion in January to a deficit of $1.5 billion in February.
Canadian international trade in services, February 2025
Canada’s monthly international trade in services deficit widened from $0.6 billion in January to $0.7 billion in February. Overall, exports of services declined 1.6% to $17.7 billion, while imports of services were down 0.8% to $18.3 billion.

Additionally, SARS-CoV-2’s high transmissibility and rapid evolution, which affects immunity, keep the risk of infection present year-round.

Canadian manufacturers produced 977 million cigarettes in February 2025, down 9.7% from January 2025. Cigarette production was 24.0% lower compared with February 2024.
