Canada’s balance of international payments, second quarter 2025
Canada’s current account deficit (on a seasonally adjusted basis) widened by $19.8 billion in the second quarter to reach an unprecedented $21.2 billion.
Payroll employment, earnings and hours, and job vacancies, June 2025
The number of employees receiving pay and benefits from their employer—measured as “payroll employment” in the Survey of Employment, Payrolls and Hours—decreased by 32,900 (-0.2%) in June, following an increase of 18,500 (+0.1%) in May. On a year-over-year basis, payroll employment was up 41,000 (+0.2%) in June.
Model-based principal field crop estimates, July 2025
In 2025, Canadian farmers are projected to produce more canola, corn for grain, oats and lentils, but less spring wheat, durum wheat, soybeans and barley, compared with 2024, according to recent yield model estimates using satellite imagery and agroclimatic data.
Poultry and egg statistics, August 2025
Poultry and egg statistics are available for Canada and the provinces. Data on stocks of frozen eggs and poultry meats, as well as edible dried egg products, are available for August 2025. Data on the placements of hatchery chicks and turkey poults are available for July 2025, and data on egg production are available for June 2025.
Screened passenger traffic at Canadian airports, July 2025
In July, 5.8 million passengers were recorded passing through pre-board security screening at checkpoints operated at Canada’s eight largest airports, a 3.6% increase over July 2024, and 7.8% higher than the pre-COVID-19 pandemic level from July 2019.
Production and disposition of tobacco products, July 2025
Canadian manufacturers produced 1.1 billion cigarettes in July 2025, up 5.5% from June 2025. Cigarette production was 9.2% lower compared with July 2024.
