Payroll employment, earnings and hours, April 2017
Average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $971 in April, little changed from March. Compared with April 2016, earnings were up 2.0%, with most of the increase occurring in the last two months of 2016.
National tourism indicators, first quarter 2017
Tourism spending in Canada rose 0.9% in the first quarter of 2017, following a 0.4% gain in the fourth quarter of 2016. Increased tourism spending by Canadians at home and by international visitors in Canada contributed to the overall growth.
Principal field crop areas, June 2017
Canadian producers reported seeding record areas of canola and soybeans in 2017, with the canola area exceeding wheat (all varieties combined) for the first time ever. Seeded acreage of corn for grain and oats also increased. Meanwhile, the areas seeded to all wheat, lentils and barley declined from 2016.
Vehicle registrations, 2016
The number of vehicles registered in Canada increased 1.8% from 2015 to 33.8 million in 2016.
Aircraft movement statistics: Major airports, April 2017
There were 452,787 aircraft take-offs and landings at the 91 Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations in April compared with 490,047 movements in April 2016.
Commercial Software Price Index, May 2017
The Commercial Software Price Index (CSPI) increased 1.6% in May compared with the previous month.
Computer and peripherals price indexes, May 2017
The price of desktop and similar computers, laptop and tablet computers, and servers decreased 0.2% in May.
