Barriers to Accessibility in Canada: Public Spaces, 2022
In 2022, 56% of Canadian with disabilities aged 15 years and over experienced one or more barriers to accessibility in public spaces at least sometimes during the 12 months prior to the Canadian Survey on Disability.
Investors among residential real estate buyers, 2018 to 2020
From 2018 to 2020, investors accounted for 28.1% of residential real estate buyers in Nova Scotia. This proportion was 24.8% in British Columbia and 20.3% in New Brunswick.
Gross domestic expenditures on research and development, 2022 (final), 2023 (preliminary) and 2024 (intentions)
Canada’s gross domestic expenditures on research and development (GERD) reached $51.7 billion in 2022, up 9.0% (+$4.2 billion) from the previous year. The growth rate was consistent across both fields of research, with natural sciences and engineering reaching $46.9 billion (+$3.9 billion) and social sciences, humanities and the arts reaching $4.8 billion (+$383 million).
Architectural services, 2023
Total operating revenue of the architectural services and landscape architectural services industries—which are responsible for planning and designing residential, industrial, commercial, institutional and government buildings, as well as land developments—grew at a more tempered pace of 7.5% in 2023 to reach $7.2 billion, following two years of double-digit growth.
