Population projections for Canada, provinces and territories, 2025 to 2075
During a time of rapid demographic change, including historically low fertility rates and several recent changes in immigration and temporary resident policies, today Statistics Canada releases a new edition of its population projections for Canada (2025 to 2075) and the provinces and territories (2025 to 2050).
Environmental protection expenditures by businesses, 2023
Canadian businesses spent $32.2 billion on environmental activities to protect and reduce pressures on the environment in 2023, up 17.4% from 2022. Almost two-thirds (63.1%) of this spending in 2023 was used to produce clean energy, purchase biomaterials or efficiently use and manage energy (resource management activities). By comparison, 36.9% of spending was put towards environmental protection activities, such as solid waste and wastewater management and air pollution management.
Building construction price indexes, fourth quarter 2025
Residential building construction costs increased 0.4% in the fourth quarter, following a 0.6% increase in the previous quarter. Non-residential building construction costs rose 0.5% in the fourth quarter, following a 0.7% increase in the previous quarter.
Wholesale trade: Early indicator, December 2025
Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the wholesale trade sector for December. The advance results for December indicate that wholesale sales (excluding petroleum, petroleum products, and other hydrocarbons and excluding oilseed and grain) rose 2.1%. The increase reflects higher sales in the motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts and accessories subsector.

Canadian Health Measures Survey: Non-environmental and environmental laboratory data, 2022 to 2024
Today, Statistics Canada is releasing new non-environmental and environmental laboratory data collected during the 2022 to 2024 cycle of the Canadian Health Measures Survey. These files include blood and urine measures for Canadians aged 1 to 79. The release features a broad set of laboratory indicators covering cardiovascular health, chemistry panel results, hematology, diabetes biomarkers, selected nutritional biomarkers, environmental chemical exposure, thyroid function, creatinine and fluoride. Measures of fluoride in tap water are also available today.
