Canadian international merchandise trade, March 2020
In March, both imports and exports decreased notably, as the impact of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Canada became evident. Canada’s merchandise exports fell 4.7%, while imports declined 3.5%. As a result, Canada’s trade deficit widened from $894 million in February to $1.4 billion in March.
Canadian international trade in services, March 2020
In March, Canada’s monthly deficit in international trade in services decreased by $665 million to $1.0 billion. Overall, imports fell 11.5% to $11.4 billion, while exports of services declined 7.2% to $10.4 billion. For imports, this was the lowest level observed since April 2016, and for exports, the lowest level since December 2017.

Dairy statistics, February 2020
The total amount of milk sold off farms increased 6.1% year over year to 754 704 kilolitres in February. Meanwhile, milk sold off farms for fluid purposes decreased 1.6% to 211 410 kilolitres. Milk sold off farms for industrial purposes increased 9.5% year over year to 543 294 kilolitres.
