Trends in police-reported family violence and intimate partner violence in Canada, 2024
According to police services in Canada, in 2024, there were 349 victims of family violence per 100,000 population, and 356 victims of intimate partner violence per 100,000 population aged 12 and older. Both rates were relatively unchanged compared with the previous year. In all, there were 142,724 victims of family violence and 128,175 victims of intimate partner violence in 2024.
Energy consumption by the manufacturing sector, 2024
Energy consumption by the Canadian manufacturing sector decreased by 2.3% from 2023 to 2 090.1 petajoules in 2024, continuing the downward trend observed since 2022.
Monthly estimates of business openings and closures, July 2025
In July, the business closure rate rose 0.3 percentage points to 5.0%, following a 0.2 percentage point decline in June. The business opening rate also settled at 5.0% in July, after being at 4.8% over the previous four months. Increased business reopenings (+0.1 percentage points) and entries (+0.1 percentage points) contributed to the rise in business openings in July.
Elementary and secondary education: Rising student numbers drive record enrolment in Canadian schools, 2023/2024
From 2022/2023 to 2023/2024, enrolment in public schools grew by 125,200 in Canada (+2.3%), the largest annual increase since the compilation of student enrolment statistics began in 1997/1998. In 2023/2024, students in Canadian public schools totalled 5.5 million.
