Building permits, February 2024
The total monthly value of building permits in Canada increased 9.3% from January to $11.8 billion in February.
Canadian residential facilities for victims of abuse, 2022/2023
In 2022/2023, there were 67,430 admissions to the 562 residential facilities in Canada whose primary mandate is to serve victims of abuse. Women (61%) made up the majority of admissions, followed by children accompanying an adult (38%). The number of admissions in 2022/2023 was 44% higher compared with admissions in 2020/2021, during the pandemic; however, they were similar to the number of admissions reported in 2017/2018.
Leading indicator of international arrivals to Canada, March 2024
In March, the preliminary number of international arrivals to Canada by air and automobile increased 16.5% from March 2023.
Housing economic account, 2023
With today’s release, estimates for housing investment, depreciation, net stock, and average age have been released for 2023, as well as the economic and environmental impacts related to housing investment. In addition, data for 1961 to 2022 have been updated. These estimates are consistent with the release of the income and expenditure accounts for the fourth quarter of 2023. The full time series are now available in the data tables for housing investment, depreciation, net stock and average age from 1961 to 2023, and the environmental perspectives from 2009 to 2023.
