Canada’s international investment position, third quarter 2024
Canada’s net foreign asset position edged up by $11.6 billion to reach $1,865.3 billion at the end of the third quarter, following three consecutive quarters of substantial increases.
New registrations, certifications, and pathways indicators of registered apprentices in Canada, 2023
Apprenticeship programs in Canada showed strong signs of recovery in 2023, with new registrations and certifications continuing their upward trend that began in 2021 after the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Across Canada, excluding Alberta, there were 70,521 new registrations in apprenticeship programs in 2023, marking an 8.0% increase from 2022 (65,307) and surpassing the 2019 pre-pandemic level (65,967). Data for Alberta are excluded for reasons explained in the Note to readers of this release.
Student pathways through postsecondary education, 2011 to 2022
Today, Statistics Canada is releasing data related to the postsecondary education pathways of college and university students (entry cohorts from 2011 to 2022). This release includes information on the proportion of postsecondary students remaining enrolled from one academic year to another (persistence rates) and the proportion of students graduating (graduation rates). Information is available by educational qualification, field of study, age group, gender and status of student in Canada. Data are available at the national, provincial and territorial levels.
Farm product prices, October 2024
Monthly provincial prices received by farmers in October for grains, oilseeds, specialty crops, cattle, hogs, poultry, eggs and dairy products are now available.
Employer pension plans (trusteed pension funds), second quarter 2024
Data on trusteed pension funds (value of assets by sector; value of assets by foreign and domestic holdings; and revenues, expenditures and net income) are now available for the second quarter.
Infrastructure economic account, 2023
With today’s release, estimates for investment, stock, remaining useful service life, as well as economic impacts have been updated for 2021, 2022 and 2023. These estimates are consistent with the third quarter of 2024 release of the Income and Expenditure accounts on November 29. The estimates for the environmental impacts have been updated for 2009 to 2023.
