Canadian international merchandise trade, October 2023
In October, Canada’s merchandise imports fell 2.8%, while exports edged up 0.1%. As a result, Canada’s merchandise trade surplus with the world widened from $1.1 billion in September to $3.0 billion in October.
Labour productivity, hourly compensation and unit labour cost, third quarter 2023
Labour productivity of Canadian businesses decreased 0.8% in the third quarter, after edging down 0.1% in the previous quarter. This was a sixth consecutive quarterly decline.
Canadian international trade in services, October 2023
Canada’s monthly international trade in services deficit narrowed from $1.4 billion in September to $1.3 billion in October. Overall, imports of services were down 0.5% to $17.7 billion, while exports of services edged up 0.3% to $16.4 billion.
