Although income and wealth inequality widened in the first quarter of 2024, some economic well-being indicators for lower- and middle-income households as well as younger households less than 45 years old improved for the first time in three years.

Foreign investment in Canadian securities surpassed Canadian investment in foreign securities for a second consecutive month in May. Non-resident investors acquired $20.9 billion of Canadian securities. Meanwhile, Canadian investors purchased a moderate $3.9 billion of foreign securities.
