Canada’s population estimates, first quarter 2024
Canada’s population surpassed 41 million people in the first quarter of 2024, to reach 41,012,563 on April 1, 2024. This milestone was reached less than one year after Statistics Canada announced that the population hit the 40 million mark, on June 16, 2023.

Monthly credit aggregates, April 2024
In April, the total credit liabilities of households rose $8.4 billion (+0.3%) to reach $2,951.9 billion. Real estate secured debt, composed of both mortgage debt and home equity lines of credit, grew by $6.0 billion (+0.3%). Household mortgage debt increased $5.2 billion (+0.2%) in April, a slowdown compared with March (+0.3%).
Canadian Income Survey: Territorial estimates, 2022
In 2022, families and unattached individuals living in the territories had a median after-tax income of $89,500, little changed from the previous year after adjusting for inflation. The Northwest Territories ($100,500) had the highest median after-tax income, followed by Nunavut ($86,200) and Yukon ($84,500).
