National tourism indicators, first quarter 2024

Tourism spending in Canada grew 1.8% in the first quarter, following a 2.4% increase in the fourth quarter of 2023. Tourism gross domestic product (+1.5%) and jobs attributable to tourism (+0.9%) also rose in the first quarter of 2024.

Today, Statistics Canada is releasing data on students enrolled in and graduated from Canadian colleges and universities (cohorts of 2014 to 2021) by racialized group. This release includes information on the number of Canadian enrolled students and graduates by racialized group, educational qualification, field of study, age group, and gender. Data are available at the national, provincial and territorial levels.

Wholesale trade: Early indicator, May 2024

Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the wholesale trade sector for May. The advance results for May indicate that wholesale sales (excluding petroleum, petroleum products, and other hydrocarbons and excluding oilseed and grain) fell 0.9% This decline reflects lower sales in the motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts and accessories subsector.
