On January 1, 2025, Canada’s population reached 41,528,680 people. This corresponds to an increase of 63,382 people compared with October 1, 2024, or a quarterly growth rate of 0.2%.

In 2024, there were 46,986 businesses across Canada providing child care services to nearly 1.1 million children aged 12 years and younger. In Canada, child care is often categorized by three types: centre-based child care, licensed home-based child care and unlicensed home-based child care.

When a person is admitted to the hospital for an illness that could have been treated by a primary health care team (e.g., asthma, diabetes, hypertension), it is considered an avoidable hospitalization. Avoidable hospitalizations are a common indicator of access to primary health care, where higher rates may indicate poorer access. Previous studies have explored factors that put people at risk for avoidable hospitalization in Canada, including age and socioeconomic status, but few have examined associations across racialized populations.
Health care workers in Canada and use of official languages at work, 2021
In 2021, there were 1,975,000 health care workers in Canada, representing 11.4% of the employed population. The number of health care workers rose across the country.

Release of the Canadian Pedestrian Network Database, 2016 to 2024
The Canadian Pedestrian Network Database is a collection of pedestrian infrastructure data compiled from municipal open data sources across Canada. It was developed as part of a trio of mobility datasets produced by the Urban Data Lab and supported by Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada (HICC), complementing the Canadian Cycling Network Database and the Canadian Public Transit Network Database.
