Employment Insurance, January 2026
The number of Canadians receiving regular Employment Insurance benefits declined by 11,000 (-1.9%) to 555,000 in January, following little variation in December. The number of beneficiaries had reached a recent high in November 2025, following an upward trend that began in January 2025.

Educational attainment in Canada has continued to rise over the past decade, 2025
In 2025, nearly two-thirds of Canadian adults aged 25 to 64 (64%) held a college or university credential, up from 55% in 2015. This increase was largely the result of growth in the number of adults with a bachelor’s degree or a master’s or doctoral degree.
Railway carloadings, January 2026
Canadian railways transported 30.9 million tonnes of freight in January, down 4.2% compared with January 2025.

Real estate rental and leasing and property management industries, 2024
The residential and non-residential real estate lessors and real estate property managers industries generated $150.2 billion in operating revenue in 2024, up 6.1% from 2023. This growth was driven by a third consecutive year of significant population increases. The non-residential industry continued to expand because of strong retail activity and e-commerce, boosting demand for logistic centres.
