Feb 03, 2022

Three local Indigenous chiefs have disavowed the “freedom convoy” protesting in Ottawa and said in a press release the Algonquin Nation did not sanction Indigenous ceremonies taking place near the downtown core.

Chief Dylan Whiteduck of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg posted the press release to his Facebook page on Wednesday. It was signed by Whiteduck, Chief Wendy Jocko of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan and Acting Grand Chief Savanna McGregor of the Algonquin Anishinabeg Nation Tribal Council.
