Comedians from across the country look at how Indigenous humour is more than just jokes
Comedy has long been part of the culture for First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities. For many Indigenous people, comedy is about recognizing one another, finding connections and carrying on traditions of storytelling and healing.
CBC Indigenous spoke with nine Indigenous comedians from across Canada about the role humour plays in their lives. We’ve gathered their responses into a series of shared themes that show why laughter goes deeper than just entertainment.
