The Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association (NOMA) is proud to present the 2026 Conference & Annual General Meeting, taking place April 22–24, 2026 in Thunder Bay, under the theme “Resilience.” This year’s conference will be proudly hosted by the Kenora District Municipal Association (KDMA)
This year’s conference will spotlight the strength, innovation, and determination of Northwestern Ontario’s municipalities as they navigate rapid change — from housing pressures and infrastructure demands to resource development, labour attraction, energy needs, community safety, and respectful partnership with Indigenous communities. “Resilience” reflects not only our region’s ability to withstand challenges, but to adapt, collaborate, and emerge stronger.
Over three days, delegates will hear from provincial and federal leaders, sector experts, and northern colleagues on the issues that matter most to our communities. The program will feature:
Plenary sessions on housing, transportation, energy, and municipal finance
Panels on economic growth in forestry, mining, and critical minerals
Workshops focused on municipal leadership, governance, and well-being
Opportunities for delegation meetings with ministers and senior officials
A northern-focused trade show highlighting products and services that support local government
NOMA’s AGM and elections, where members help shape the organization’s advocacy for the year ahead
NOMA 2026 will be a gathering place for mayors, reeves, councillors, CAOs, economic development leaders, and partners who believe in building vibrant, sustainable northern communities.
Join us in Thunder Bay to celebrate the resilience of the North — and to chart the next chapter, together.
