AABO aims to create apprenticeship links – Daily Commercial News

Creating partnerships and links between stakeholders can help get Aboriginal Peoples into the trades and address Ontario’s skilled labour shortage, says the leader of the Aboriginal Apprenticeship Board of Ontario (AABO).

“The Aboriginal supply of labour is a made in Canada solution to address the skills gap,” said Sara Monture, executive director of AABO, a not for profit organization dedicated to increasing the number of Aboriginal Peoples in trades in Ontario.

BuildForce Canada predicts Ontario’s construction industry will need to recruit 37,600 workers to meet labour demands.

Monture spoke at the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum’s recent Skilled Trades Summit in Ottawa.
